Program: PILOT DECISION MAKING – The First Decision:  Fly or Not-Fly

David Smuck will discuss Pilot Decision Making, and focus on the Go/No-Go decision that is always the first and basic decision.

This decision captures many powerful issues; the desire of pilot and crew to get into the air, the influence of sponsors, and of event organizers, of other pilots.  But, more important, the possible flight restrictions; weather conditions and forecast conditions, the condition of the balloon, of terrain in likely landing zone, of chase vehicle, crew health, pilot health, . .

This decision doesn’t have to be an ‘instantaneous’ one, but can be done in steps and there may be a way to delay the actual Go/NoGo.

And, the decision should include the Crew and their opinions.

This will be an excellent session.
